Peaceful and Powerful Warrior

JOURNEY TO FIND THE POWER IN A PEACEFUL WARRIOR

Instigating a Warrior

Once an innocent little girl who later became an impressionable teenager, I recall some sad times feeling bullied, ostracized, and belittled. My immature mind took it all personally. In turn, I became defensive, and as I have said before, a bit scrappy.

Self-Serving Warrior

Sadly, I processed my feelings poorly wanting to protect myself and reacted negatively. Thoughtless words in response were sometimes unkind and hurtful to any recipients as I expressed myself. Those words once out were irretractable.

Aware Warrior

Fortunately I was born and raised with a good conscience. I personally knew the effects of the negative ripple effect and realized I must stop my own damaging ripples. If I could take back some things I said or did, I would. Words and actions, like the ripples, may make some commotion but they are stoppable while on their paths.

Reformed Warrior

So I decided any change starts with me. I leaned in to see things from others' perspectives as I brushed myself off from any residual damage. A fresh start began by relocating, getting closer to my family, and pursuing further education. I witnessed lots of other's suffering as I became a nurse. This provided great lessons to foster true compassion with positive results from any kind words or actions I offered. The shift was real.

Angel wings are beautiful, gentle reminders to stay on course with ease and grace.

Spiritual Warrior

Connection with a divine and higher power guides our hearts and minds. I believe that's where our true conscience originates, and is eternal. Once I tuned in to that frequency I became more understanding, forgiving, and calm even if provoked.

Lessons:

Identify what triggers you, then breathe through it as you reflect and consider options before responding.

Consider the short and long-term effects of your responses.

React always from a state of calm, compassion, and understanding.

Forgive and ask for forgiveness when appropriate.

In yoga philosophy, Ahimsa is the behavior a yogi adopts for compassion and kindness, and discipline to do no harm. Learning this as I became a yoga teacher amplified my understanding and commitment of becoming a Peaceful and Powerful Warrior for life.
