Moods of the Moon

Ever feel a bit more moody with a full moon or a lunar eclipse like we just experienced? I do. Our moonlight and our bodies shift as the moon’s surface darkens or glows from reflective light and location with our sun. We both react to the gravitational pulls and the changes in light we receive.

Our earth is covered by about 71% water according to NASA, of which about 96% is saltwater. Humans have a similar composition of water containing salt minerals as a key element to sustain life.

Our tides shift so it makes sense that our own body does based on the moon's relationship with us. Every full moon, I feel it. In my sleep, my moods and even fluid retention or dehydration. I have learned to accept that I may be more vulnerable, so more grounding is needed. I need to do more to stay balanced like eat healthy foods, avoid caffeine and surround myself with more positivity and calming practices. Maybe even a yoga Moon Salutation, Chandra Namaskar.

Even patterns of most women’s monthly menstrual cycles are similar to the patterns like the moon, changing every 28-29 days. All people and other creatures react to changes with the light and as energy pulls or releases. We can be a bit "moody" or feel off centered.

Awareness, preparation and healthy habits will help you to find more ease and grace during these lunar cycles. "Earthing" is one of my favorites. Take your shoes off, plug your soles into the earth and like a 3-pronged electrical cord, you will be reconnected and energized.

Enjoy gazing at the moon like I do as I look for it every night to remind me of our co-existence. Not long ago, man actually stood upon its surface for the first time. Be like our astronauts and continue to explore and take new adventures. I recommend this book, Earthing for a thorough explanation and great tips.

Forever Exploring,
