If I Could Turn Back Time
If I could reach the stars,
I'd give them all to you...

"If I could turn back time..." was one of my favorite songs in 1989. Did you ever see Cher's music video on a massive navy ship as she was surrounded by ecstatic sailors cheering her on? She stunned us in her sheer body suit with her black leather jacket covering the rest, belting out the lyrics and notes with so much passion.
It was my favorite song that year when I married my son's father on Kauai, the lush garden island of Hawaii. But I listen to the lyrics now with wiser ears and different emotions, sometimes with remorse for some things I did (or didn't do) that may have had negative effects on him, or others from the past. I reflect with more compassion without the option to "take back those words" since he passed away many years ago.
Here's a sampling to read or better yet, sing along...
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I'd take back those words that've hurt you
And you'd stay
I don't know why I did the things I did
I don't know why I said the things I said
Pride's like a knife it can cut deep inside
Words are like weapons they wound sometimes
I didn't really mean to hurt you
I didn't wanna see you go
I know I made you cry, but baby
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I'd take back those words that've hurt you
And you'd stay
If I could reach the stars
I'd give them all to you
Then you'd love me, love me
Like you used to do
If I could turn back time
My world was shattered I was torn apart
Like someone took a knife and drove it deep in my heart
You walked out that door I swore that I didn't care
But I lost everything darling then and there
Too strong to tell you I was sorry
Too proud to tell you I was wrong
I know that I was blind, and darling
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I'd take back those words that've hurt you
And you'd stay
If I could reach the stars
I'd give them all to you
Then you'd love me, love me
Like you used to do
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
Then maybe, maybe, maybe
You'd stay
Reach the stars
If I could reach the stars...

If you harbor any regrets for past interactions with someone you may have hurt, use this hour to reflect, and maybe repair. Perhaps you have a chance to "reach the stars" and "turn back time" with compassion and an authentic reconnection to make things right in both of your hearts. Ho' oponopono is the Hawaiian prayer I have practiced to heal the past to move forward, but I add the specifics of how each applies to me and the recipient. Make a phone call, send a card, or maybe meet in person, if possible.

Enjoy the extra hour you gain this "fall back" day and let it be heart-led. Use it wisely with gratitude and love.
Grateful for another hour and more wisdom for compassion,
