Healthy Roots to Ground

Grounding for Healthy Roots is necessary to manifest the fruits of our labor. But sometimes I feel like I am going in so many directions without focus or control. If I pause and redirect my energy with proper fuel, rest and foresight, I find my way.

So we kick off our Chakra Energy Center series with...Root to Rise, a common term by yoga teachers. We ground our feet or hips if a seated position, then eventually move upward. Like the tree, we reach for the light without compromising our stability for success. Whether a mighty oak or a more flexible palm tree, we get to our destination.

We create energy locks in our feet, known as Pada Bandha, engaged muscles and sturdy bones as we extend through our torso and lengthen our spine. We may reach through our arms, hands, and ultimately our heavy head at the top. We may even plant our hands down on the earth to connect with its energy for grounding.

Rooting down first to rise also means proper use of setting up any strong foundation. Like a basement before the roof, strong roots before the tree's crown , a foundation must be securely set.

The Root Chakra, Muladhara in Sanskrit, is at the base of our spine, encompassing our hips and sitting bones. Its energy is stoked when we engage our lower core, Mula Bandha.

Purposeful breathing also helps us become more centered. Equal parts inhale and exhales through the nose create harmony.

Nature walks with intentional breathing make me feel like I am home with my thoughts and body. Connection to everything. This was my walk in the woods during the early months of the unstabling pandemic that brought me feelings of security beyond just survival.

Wear a shade of red, your root chakra power color this week to attract a stronger sense of stability. Create new rituals that start your day with fresh perspective, positive affirmations, breathing fresh air with warm sunlight on your body, some mindful meditation, and an action plan to feel secure wherever you arrive.

Happily Rooted in Nature,
